Description
AEROSIL® (10 kg) is a high-purity fumed silica widely used as a rheology modifier, thickener, and reinforcing additive in liquid systems. It is added at low loadings to resins, silicones, epoxies, polyurethanes, and coatings to precisely control viscosity and flow behavior. AEROSIL® creates a three-dimensional network within the formulation, producing thixotropic behavior—the material thickens at rest and flows under shear—making it ideal for anti-sag, anti-settling, and drip-free applications.
In casting and molding systems, AEROSIL® is commonly used to thicken silicone rubbers for brush-on molds, prevent filler separation, and improve handling during lamination or vertical surface application. In epoxy and polyester systems, it enhances mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and dimensional stability while maintaining low density. Because of its extremely fine particle size and large surface area, only small amounts are required to achieve significant viscosity increases.
AEROSIL® is chemically inert, moisture resistant, and compatible with a wide range of formulations. It does not significantly affect color and can be blended with other fillers to fine-tune performance. Supplied in a 10 kg package, it is suitable for professional workshops and industrial users requiring consistent, repeatable rheology control in high-performance formulations.
