Mold Max™ 27T

Description

This silicone rubber compound is water-white translucent and tin-cured, offering exceptional tear strength and working-properties. 

Mold Max™ 27T features a 100A:10B mix ratio by weight and cures overnight at room temperature. 

Vacuum degassing is recommended for de-airing. It can be thickened for brush-on applications.

Use Cases

Used for animatronic dinosaur skin in themed restaurants and creating special effects like severed prop heads.

Instructions

Important Notes

• Weigh components using a gram scale for accuracy.
• Not suitable for molds casting Crystal Clear™ or Clear Flex™ Series urethanes.
• Conduct a small test application to ensure suitability.

Safety

• Use in a well-ventilated area.
• Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only.

Storage

• Store at room temperature (23°C).
• Warmer storage reduces shelf life.
• Use products as soon as possible due to limited shelf life.

Applying a Sealer / Release Agent

• May be inhibited by sulfur-based clays.
• Test compatibility with the surface.
• Use a barrier coat of clear acrylic lacquer if needed.
• Ease Release™ 200 is recommended for easier demolding.

Measuring & Mixing

• Pre-mix Part B thoroughly.
• Mix parts A and B for 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom.
• Vacuum degassing is recommended.

Pouring / Curing / Post Curing

• Pour mixture at the lowest point of the containment field.
• Allow to cure overnight at room temperature before demolding.
• Post cure for 4 hours at 65°C to eliminate residual moisture.

Thickening for Brush-on Application

• Use THI-VEX™ for thickening.
• Apply thin coats, allowing each to become tacky before the next.

Accelerating Cure Time

• Accel-T™ can be used to accelerate cure time.
• Note: This reduces the mold's library life.

Thinning

• Silicone Thinner™ lowers viscosity and increases pot life.
• Do not exceed 10% by weight of the total system.

Mold Performance & Storage

• Mold life depends on usage and materials cast.
• Clean molds with soap solution before storage.
• Store assembled molds on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.
