Description

This water-based concrete release agent is designed to aid in releasing concrete castings from rubber molds, latex molds, and other surfaces like melamine, metal, and non-porous wood. It ensures a clean release without affecting color or surface detail and helps minimize bug holes and air bubbles in finished castings.

Features

  • Low cost – Can be used straight or diluted with water (up to 8 parts water).
  • Eco-friendly – Contains no VOCs, carcinogens, or harmful oils.
  • Does not stain concrete or affect color, surface detail, or finishing.
  • Minimizes bug holes and air bubbles.
  • Contains no oils that will cause rubber molds to soften, shrink, or swell.
  • Keeps molds clean and does not build up.
  • Extends mold life.

Technical Properties

Coverage: Applied in a thin film (0.013 mm / 0.0005 in), 1 gallon (undiluted) covers 297 square meters / 3,200 square feet.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wear safety glasses to minimize contamination risk.
  • Store and use at room temperature (23°C/73°F). Do not use below 8°C/45°F.

Pre-Mixing

  • Shake the container or stir thoroughly with a paddle or drill mixer set on a slow speed to a uniform consistency before dispensing.

Diluting

  • Can be used straight or diluted with up to 8 parts water. The dilution ratio depends on your concrete mix design.
  • If using on a new rubber mold, use straight for the first 10 castings.
  • 1 – 10 castings: use undiluted.
  • After 10 castings: dilute 1 part product to 4 parts water.
  • After 20 castings: dilute 1 part product to 8 parts water.
  • Mix only the amount needed for one day. Mixture may separate after a few hours. Pre-mix to a uniform consistency before dispensing.

Applying

  • Coat mold surface with a very thin film (0.013 mm / 0.0005 in). Apply with a brush, roller, HVLP gun, or sprayer.
  • Do not allow the release agent to pool in the mold. Wipe over the mold surface using a clean, soft cloth.
  • Caution: Do not over-apply. Excessive application will cause air bubbles, wormtracks, bugholes, or pitting on surfaces.
  • After applying to the mold surface, mix and cast concrete immediately.
  • Mixture may separate after 24 hours. If it separates, re-mix to a uniform consistency and apply.
  • Because no two applications are quite the same, a small test application to determine suitability for your project is recommended if performance is in question.
