Description

5-Gallon Vacuum Chamber For Vacuuming Liquid Rubbers and Liquid Plastics. Vacuum systems (a vacuum chamber and a vacuum pump that pulls to 0.98 bar) are used to remove air from high-viscosity materials like silicone rubber before pouring. They are also ideal for vacuum degassing liquid plastics (such as Crystal Clear™ plastic) for making bubble-free castings. This easy-to-use vacuum chamber is made of tough aluminum. The lid is made from shatter-resistant acrylic and features a rubber gasket that creates a positive, air-tight seal for maximum vacuum. The inside dimension of the vacuum chamber, 35.56 cm diameter opening x 38.1 cm tall, can accommodate up to a 5-gallon pail. It includes a hose, and the easy-to-read gauge lets you know if your vacuum pump is pulling the required 29" of mercury.

Instructions

Use a suitable vacuum pump (not included) capable of pulling ~0.98 bar. Place your mixed silicone, resin, or other high-viscosity material in a container inside the chamber. Close the lid and open the valve to draw a vacuum; watch the gauge until bubbles rise and collapse. Once degassed, wait ~60-90 seconds, then release the vacuum, open the lid, and remove your material. Clean the chamber with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol only. Adult supervision required.
