Description
SLIDE™ STD Liquid Surface Tension Diffuser is an additive for platinum-cure silicone rubber that reduces surface tension, allowing cured silicone to slide across itself and other surfaces. It is compatible with low-viscosity platinum-cure silicones such as Ecoflex 00-10, 00-20, 00-30, and Dragon Skin 20NV.
Due to its ultra-low surface tension, it is ideal for creating silicone masks. The surface of a silicone casting created with this additive is very low-friction, allowing cast silicone pieces to glide over surfaces such as skin.
Important: This additive will significantly thicken higher-viscosity silicones, such as Dragon Skin 10 and others. Cured material will still exhibit the sliding effect. Silicone will yellow over time. If yellowing is undesired, adding Silc Pig™ silicone pigment to the liquid rubber before mixing will color the silicone.

Instructions
Preparation
- Use in a properly ventilated area.
- Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only; latex gloves will inhibit the cure.
- Store and use material at 23°C (73°F). Warmer temperatures will reduce working and cure time and shelf life.
- Use products as soon as possible due to limited shelf life.
Measuring & Mixing
- Add by weight to Part B and mix thoroughly before adding Part A.
- Use an accurate gram scale. Calculate amounts of Part A, Part B, and additive in advance.
- Weigh required amount of Part B.
- Add up to 1.5% of additive as a percentage of Part B. Mix thoroughly.
- Add required amount of Part A and mix thoroughly, eliminating color streaks.
- Pour mixture into a new container and mix again.
- Pour rubber into containment field or mold.
Low Surface Tension Properties
- Expose silicone surface to air for at least 24 hours to exhibit low surface tension properties.
- Adding this additive will lengthen cure time, requiring 16 - 24 hours for full cure.
- After curing, demold and position casting so all surfaces contact air to develop low-friction surface.
Adhesion and Lamination
- Other platinum silicones will not bond to a cured piece with low surface tension properties.
- To bond another silicone, apply before low-friction surface develops.
Use in a Mold Material
- Silicone molds created with this additive are adhesive when casting urethane resins and other materials.
- Applying a release is necessary before casting if used in mold material.
