Task Series

TASK® Plastics are a new generation of performance urethane casting resins that offer superior physical properties compared to our popular Smooth-Cast line of general purpose casting resins. TASK® Plastics feature convenient mix ratios by volume (pbv) or weight (pbw), low viscosities, high tensile and flexural strength, as well as high flexural modulus. These resins are designed for casting in thicknesses up to ½" (1.27 cm).

Task 2&3

TASK® 2 & TASK® 3 are low viscosity, high performance casting resins that offer superior physical and performance properties compared to our popular Smooth-Cast® Series. Vacuum degassing is not necessary and they offer the convenience of a 1A:1B by volume (120A:100B by weight) mix ratio. The difference between TASK® 2 & TASK® 3 is the pot life and demold time. TASK® 2 & TASK® 3 are white. They have high tensile and flexural strength, as well as high flexural modulus. These plastics were formulated for a variety of industrial applications including pattern making and the production of prototypes. These resins are designed for casting in thicknesses up to 1.3 cm.

Task 4

TASK® 4 is a unique polyurethane casting resin that is very strong when cast in Ultra-Thin sections ranging from 0.075cm to 1.27cm (0.03" to 0.50"). This resin has a very low mixed viscosity, ensuring flawless pick-up of even the finest detail. Cured plastic exhibits very low shrinkage which is why this plastic has become a favorite of prototype and design professionals throughout the world. Pot life is 20 minutes and cure time is 16 hours at 23°C (73°F). Vibrant colors and color effects arepossible by adding SO-Strong® color tints. Fully cured models made from TASK® 4 are tough, durable, machinable and paintable. They resist moisture and mild solvents. Applications include making prototype and architectural models, model toys, durable miniatures, ultra-thin mechanical parts and special effect props.

Task 5

TASK® 5 & TASK® 6 low cost, high performance casting resins yield castings that are tan and virtually bubble free. These resins offer superior physical and performance properties compared to our popular Smooth-Cast® Series of general purpose casting resins. Vacuum degassing is not necessary and they offer the convenience of a 1A:1B by volume or weight mix ratio. The differences between TASK®5 and TASK®6 are the pot life and demold time. TASK® 5 & TASK® 6 have high tensile and flexural strength, as well as high flexural modulus. These plastics were formulated for a variety of industrial applications including pattern making and making prototype models. These resins are designed for casting in thicknesses up to 1.27 cm (½").

Task 6

Task 7

Task 7 - “Flame Out” is a low viscosity, fast set casting resin that meets UL 94 V-O requirements for flame resistance. It does not contain mercury, TDI or MOCA. Mix ratio is 1A:1B by volume. Pot life is 2.5 min. and demold time is 10 min. at 73°F / 23°C (depending on mass). Fully cured Flame Out® material is tough, durable, machinable and paintable. It has much higher physical and performance properties than any other flame rated urethane available anywhere. Vibrant colors and color effects are possible by adding SO-Strong® color tints. Applications for Flame Out® include making flame resistant prototype and architectural models, model toys, theme park and stage elements, durable miniatures and special effect props. Material can also be used for potting and encapsulation applications.

Task 8

TASK® 8 is a heat resistant polyurethane resin system made specifically for prototyping / casting applications which require thermal resistance of up to 263°F /129°C. TASK® 8 offers the convenience of a 1A:1B mix ratio and has a very low viscosity, so it is easy to mix and pour. Plastic cures quickly to a Shore 80D and exhibits good physical and performance properties. Heat curing this material is necessary to attain optimal heat resistance. See “Heat Curing” section for curing schedule details. Applications include making machine housings, thermo-forming and general prototyping / casting.

Task 11

TASK® 11 urethane casting resin is a semi-rigid plastic (has some flexibility) that is strong and very tough. Originally developed for high impact tooling (drop hammer punch), TASK® 11 also offers good abrasion and chemical resistance and is ideal for a variety of industrial applications. This product is suitable for some FDA/USDA applications - dry food contact only. TASK® 11 applications include making abrasion resistant parts, foundry patterns, encapsulation, roller facings, metal bonding and vibration pads.

Task 12

TASK® 12 is part of the TASK® series of high performance casting resins. It is a semi-rigid urethane resin that offers extraordinary handling strength and impact resistance. Castings are tough and durable. TASK® 12 can be color pigmented or filled and is used for a variety of industrial applications including making prototype models, high impact parts and tools. CAUTION: NOT FOR HOME USE. THIS PRODUCT IS FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. Proper ventilation, a NIOSH Approved Respirator and Protective Clothing are required to minimize the risk of inhalation and dermal sensitization. If breathing is affected or a dermal rash develops, immediately cease using this product and seek medical attention.Read MSDS before using.

Task 13&14

TASK® 13and TASK® 14 are fast setting two-component urethanes that cure quickly to black semi-rigid plastics. TASK® 13 has a pot life of 3 minutes and demold time of 20 minutes. TASK® 14 offers a longer pot life (10 minutes) and demold time of 45 minutes. With a Shore value of 50D, these semi-rigid plastics are used for a variety of industrial applications including fast mold making, fast model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, black props and special effects, or making parts that are impact resistant. Fully cured castings are tough, durable and chemical resistant.

Task 15

TASK® 15 is a premium performance urethane resin that exhibits exceptional impact strength when cast in thin-wall sections. TASK® 15 features a gradual cure profile, making it ideal for rotational casting applications. Pot life is 6 minutes and handling time 60 minutes at room temperature. Vibrant colors are possible by adding small amounts of SO-Strong® tint or IGNITE® fluorescent colors. Plastic fully cures with negligible shrinkage and can be machined, sanded and/or painted.

Task 16

TASK®16 is a low odor, fast-setting Shore 80A/30D urethane that offers very high tear strength, impact resistance and wear resistance. TASK®16 is phthalate free, mercury free and MOCA free. Mixed one part A to two parts B by weight, TASK®16 pours easily. Working time is 6 minutes and handling time is 90 minutes at room temperature. Cured rubber has exceptional performance characteristics and dimensional stability. TASK® 16can be colored with SOStrong® or Ignite® colorants.

TASK®16 is suitable for making fast mechanical parts, gaskets, wheels and pullies, impact resistant props, and archival master models. It is also used to make fast, wear resistant rubber molds for casting concrete or concrete stamping pads. TASK®16 is also an excellent choice for rotocasting to create hollow semi-rigid castings.

IMPORTANT:Cured TASK® 16 will inhibit the cure of liquid platinum silicone. You can not pour platinum silicone into cured TASK® 16. Tin silicone must be used if you intend to pour silicone against cured TASK® 16.

Task 18

TASK® 18 is a relatively low viscosity aluminum filled urethane casting resin that was developed specifically for making short run vacuum forming molds. TASK® 18 is also used to make industrial production parts, prototype parts and tracing patterns.

Task 21

TASK® 21 is a performance urethane casting resin that has been described by many as having similar performance and mechanical characteristics to ABS plastic, with high compressive and flexural strength. TASK® 21 has no odor and is easy to process. Mix ratio is 2A:1B by weight or volume. Pot life is 6 minutes and handling strength is reached in 60 minutes at room temperature (depending on mass and configuration). TASK® 21 features a low mixed viscosity of 500 cps and readily de-airs itself when cast into molds. SO-Strong® or IGNITE® colorants can be added for color and a variety of powder fillers can be added to alter performance or appearance characteristics. Applications for TASK® 21 include rapid prototyping, casting strong and highly detailed models, making holding / assembly fixtures, figurines and decorative castings.

IMPORTANT - TASK® 21 can not be cast into platinum-cure silicone molds. We recommend casting TASK® 21 into tin-cure silicone or urethane rubber molds (using a release agent)
